Stations of the Cross with Graces for Each Station
Directions: According to St. Alphonsus, each Station brings its own graces to bear fruit in our souls.
Make an act of Contrition and form the intention of gaining the indulgences connected to this devotion, whether for yourself, your neighbor, or for the suffering souls in Purgatory.
Let us pray;
My God, pardon me and permit me to accompany Thee on this journey. Thou goest to die for love of me; I wish only to carry my cross and die for love of Thee. Let me live and die always united to love of Thee.
I. Jesus is condemned to death.
My adorable Jesus, grant me the grace that will assist my soul on its journey to eternity. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
II. Jesus is made to carry his cross.
O Lord, grant me the grace to carry my crosses with perfect patience and resignation. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
III. Jesus falls the first time.
O Lord, grant me the grace to save me from falling into mortal sin. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
IV. Jesus meets His Sorrowful Mother.
O Lord, grant me a truly devoted love for Thy Most Holy Mother. My Queen, obtain for me a continual and tender remembrance of the passion of thy Son. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
V. Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus to carry His cross.
O Lord, grant me the grace not to refuse Thy cross but to accept it and embrace it. I accept in particular the death Thou hast destined for me, with all the pains that may accompany it. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
VI. Veronica wipes the Face of Jesus.
O God, grant my soul the beauty it received at baptism. Put Thy image in me as Thou didst on Veronica’s veil. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
VII. Jesus falls the second time.
Grant me the grace of perpetual perseverance until death and not to fall into any temptation. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
VIII. Jesus speaks to the women of Jerusalem.
Thou didst tell the women of Jerusalem, “Weep not for Me but for your children.” Thou didst foretell to them the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans who were children of Nimrod and the Tower of Babel. Grant me the grace to overcome the assault of the modern children of Nimrod and the Tower of Babel. Amen. Link to Babel image
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
IX. Jesus falls the third time.
O Lord, grant me the strength to conquer all human respect and all my wicked passions which have led me to despise Thy friendship. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
X. Jesus is stripped of his garments.
My innocent Jesus, as when they ripped the clothes from Thy flesh, help me to strip myself of all affections to things on earth so that I may love God alone. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
XI. Jesus is nailed to the cross.
Grant me the grace to nail my heart to Thy feet that it may ever remain there to love Thee and never quit Thee again. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
XII. Jesus is raised up on the cross and dies.
Thy death on the cross, which opened the gates of Heaven, made reparation for the sin of Adam and Eve. Grant me the hope of Thy grace for my own salvation and that of the whole world. By Thy death give me the grace to die embracing Thy feet and burning with love of Thee. I commit my soul into Thy hands. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
XIII. Jesus is taken down from the cross and placed in the arms of His Mother.
O Mother of Sorrows, for the love of Thy Son, accept me for Thy servant and slave. Pray to Him for me. And Thou my Redeemer, since Thou hast died for me, permit me to love Thee always. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
XIV. Jesus is placed in the sepulcher.
Thy Mother didst bury Thee in the sepulcher and kissed the stone that enclosed Thee. I accept life in the tomb as my cloister. Help me to live the life that Thou didst live when Thou didst go out into the deserts, the mountain high places, and caves to pray, until my resurrection. Give me the grace of being cloistered in my home monastery, and also cloistered among men in the cities and among the people. Help me teach them, heal them, feed them, pray for them, and set the example for them. We carry our cloister with us as we go about our duties in the world in imitation of Christ. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
Concluding Intentions
Grant me the grace to follow Thy Son on the Way of the Cross and to accomplish His two great commands:
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind,
and thy neighbour as thyself.”
Let me use the Stations of the Cross, the Divine Mercy, Mass and Communion, and Divine Office readings, in order to accomplish the commandment of loving Thee.
Let me use all reparation devotions to accomplish loving my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee. Devotions such as five First Saturdays, Communion of Reparation, spiritual and corporal works of mercy, defending the Church, daily pilgrimages to Purgatory to soothe the suffering souls. Amen.
