3. Prayer Before a Crucifix

Christ Crucified by Diego Velazquez (1632) Museo del Prado

Look down upon me, good and gentle Jesus, while before Thy face I humbly kneel, and with burning soul I pray and beseech Thee to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, and charity, true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment; while with deep affection and grief of soul I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate Thy five most precious wounds, having before my eyes the words which David the prophet put on Thy lips concerning Thee, O good Jesus: “They have pierced My hands and My feet; they have numbered all My bones.” Amen. (10 years when recited before an image of Christ crucified.

4. Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O good Jesus, hear me. Within Thy wounds hide me. Suffer me not to be separated from Thee. From the malignant enemy, defend me. At the hour of death, call me. And bid me come to Thee; That with Thy saints I may praise Thee, forever and ever. Amen. (indulgence of 300 days; or 7 years when recited after Holy Communion)

5. Prayer to St. Michael
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly beseech Thee; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. (3 years)

6. Prayer of St. Ignatius [Confraternity Version]
O Lord, [through the Immaculate Heart of Mary] take and receive my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my whole will.

All that I am and all that I possess Thou hast given me;
I surrender it all to Thee [through Our Lady] to be disposed of according to Thy will.
Give me only Thy love and Thy grace; with these I will be rich enough, and will desire nothing more. Amen. (3 years)

7. Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may the perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. (300 days)
